Chicago used significant draft capital to acquire Simmons, one of the NFL's most productive interior defensive linemen.
According to NFL Network and ESPN, the Bears are sending first-round picks in 2027 and 2028, along with a 2027 fourth-round selection, to Tennessee. Chicago will also receive a 2028 fifth-round pick alongside Simmons.
Jeffery Simmons signed a three-year, $105.8 million extension with Tennessee in June 2026, including $100 million guaranteed. This made him the NFL’s highest-paid defensive tackle at the time.
The deal runs through 2030. Following his trade to Chicago, the Bears inherit a substantial financial commitment, with salaries of $26.9 million in 2027 and $29.8 million in 2028.
The Bears appear prepared to sacrifice future draft flexibility to strengthen their current roster. Chicago entered Week 8 with a 5-2 record, fifth in the NFC playoff picture under head coach Ben Johnson.
Simmons's arrival strengthens Chicago's defense alongside veteran defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. His interior pass-rushing ability could reduce Chicago’s reliance on blitzes. The team aims to put on a front against top NFC contenders.
For Tennessee, the return provides valuable draft capital as the franchise looks toward rebuilding.

Jeffery Simmons has recorded 38 tackles, four sacks, four pass breakups, and a forced fumble through seven games. He is coming off a career-best 11-sack campaign in 2025 and has earned four Pro Bowl selections.
