The Tennessee Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott this week after an alleged altercation with a teammate at the team facility last Thursday.
The Tennessee Titans released defensive tackle Jordan Elliott this week after an alleged altercation with a teammate at the team facility last Thursday.
The Titans defensive tackle reportedly had an altercation on the practice field with right tackle JC Latham and he went to his vehicle in the parking lot to grab a firearm. Titans defensive lineman John Franklin-Myers reportedly defused the situation.
During Wednesday’s segment of the “Speakeasy” podcast, former Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver T. J. Houshmandzadeh reacted to the controversial incident.
“It’s black and white. And with me working with the league still to this day, these messages are so clear. Like, 'Why am I bringing my pistol with me to the facility? What am I doing? Don’t do it.' You get the message over and over.

“Jordan Elliott, I don’t know if he’s married, but he’s a father. Bro, you have kids that are relying on you. And if you have kids, you may have a mother of that child that is also relying on you as well. And if that’s your wife, she’s really relying on you. We always put our kids in front of us, always.”
Following Elliott's release, the league is reportedly investigating the incident. The investigation could lead to a suspension for Elliott, who is a free agent after his release.
Titans coach Robert Saleh seemingly defends Jordan Elliott for controversial gun incident
Jordan Elliott signed a two-year, $8 million contract with the Titans before the 2026 season. Despite the controversial incident, Titans coach Robert Saleh seemingly defended Elliott after his release.
"I will stand on the table for Jordan's character," Saleh said. "Unfortunately, rules are rules with regard to guns on property. And sometimes it's far greater than the knee-jerk reaction of kicking somebody when they're down. My message to 31 other teams would be if you need a run-stopping D-tackle that can help you on a playoff run, give me a call, I'll tell you everything you need to know about him.
"He's a good man. Had a terrible lapse in judgment that I recognize as a call for help more than a criminal act. It's unfortunate the way it went down. But as far as Jordan's concerned and the locker room and all that, I think people see it differently here than the knee-jerk reaction of the world."
Elliott, who played under Saleh during his stint as a defensive coordinator at the San Francisco 49ers last season, played five games and recorded 11 tackles for the Titans.
