IPL Trade Bombshell: Hardik Pandya Set For Punjab Kings Move In Arshdeep Singh Deal - Report
Hardik Pandya has been linked with a move away from MI since the conclusion of IPL 2026, with multiple franchises reportedly holding talks over a potential deal.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI) are closing in on a trade involving star all-rounder Hardik Pandya and pacer Arshdeep Singh ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) retention deadline, according to a report. Hardik has been linked with a move away from MI since the conclusion of IPL 2026, with multiple franchises reportedly holding talks over a potential deal. However, according to a report in Sportstar, the top management of MI and PBKS have all but agreed to the proposed trade.
The report added that MI will receive Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod in exchange for Hardik.
"The Ricky Ponting-coached franchise has advanced considerably in its negotiations with Mumbai Indians, with India pacer Arshdeep Singh and wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod likely to move in the opposite direction," the report said.
However, both franchises are yet to make a comment on the potential deal.
Earlier reports had claimed that Rajasthan Royals (RR), Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were all interested in acquiring Hardik before the retention deadline. However, KKR were reportedly the only franchise engaged in advanced talks.
MI were keen to acquire Harshit Rana and Angkrish Raghuvanshi in exchange for Hardik, but KKR were reportedly unwilling to part ways with the duo.
In RR's case, MI were said to be interested in Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ravi Bishnoi, but little progress was made in those discussions.
Meanwhile, in talks with CSK, MI reportedly sought talented batter Ayush Mhatre, but the Chennai-based franchise firmly rejected the proposal.
Hardik has been out of action since the end of IPL 2026, and several media reports have claimed that he is unlikely to return to competitive cricket before IPL 2027.
This unexpected deal between MI and PBKS could trigger a domino effect in the trade market. The report also claimed that PBKS could approach Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) over a potential trade for left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, offering Marcus Stoinis in exchange.
