Notably, Dhoni's airport appearance came just days after he was in Jamnagar for Navratri celebrations. The 45-year-old enjoyed the festivities with his wife Sakshi at the Ambani family's Navratri Mela at the Reliance Greens township.
On the cricketing front, Dhoni has yet to make an official announcement regarding his Indian Premier League (IPL) future. The revised retention rules allowed Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to retain the veteran stumper for ₹4 crore as an uncapped player ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Dhoni was appointed as CSK's interim captain during the 2025 edition after regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad's elbow injury. The seasoned campaigner did not feature in a single match in IPL 2026 due to calf and finger injuries.
"We never had an issue" - Former India spinner opens up on MS Dhoni's appointment as India captain
Former India spinner Harbhajan Singh recently recalled MS Dhoni getting captaincy at a young age before the 2007 T20 World Cup. He suggested that the team's senior players did not have an issue with the development.
The decision proved to be a masterstroke for India as the side ended up winning the 2007 T20 World Cup, 2011 ODI World Cup, and 2013 Champions Trophy under Dhoni's captaincy. Speaking about playing under the wicketkeeper's leadership, Harbhajan said on Prakhar Gupta's YouTube podcast:
"Dhoni took the team forward from where Ganguly left it because he never tried to impose his leadership style. Dhoni only focused on how to get the best out of the players, which he was exceptional at. We never had an issue with Dhoni becoming the captain despite being so young. Because we understood the captain wasn't everything, and all 11 players had to do well for Dhoni to look good as captain."
MS Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020. He remains the only captain to win all three major ICC white-ball trophies.
