Experienced England all-rounder Liam Livingstone is reportedly under the radar of multiple Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises ahead of the players' auction for the IPL 2027 season. Livingstone, an out-of-favour England National Cricket Team cricketer but a well-known face across franchise leagues, is known for his explosive batting from the middle and llower-middleorder.
He has all the required tools to change the course of a T20 match, but for a long time now, Liam Livingstone has been far from his best. The 33-year-old played only a couple of matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the previous IPL season, where he scored only 15 runs, including a 14-run knock.
CSK wants Liam Livingstone ahead of IPL 2027
SRH brought him for INR 13 crore at the last auction. According to a Cricbuzz report, multiple franchises, including the Chennai Super Kings, gs are interested in making a deal with SRH for the English all-rounder.
It can be a swap deal if SRH agrees to release Livingstone from their squad. As it is claimed, despite keeping Liam Livingstone on the bench for most of the time during IPL 2026, the franchise is yet to make up its mind about the all-rounder.
Liam Livingstone in place of Khaleel Ahmed?
The conversation between CSK and SRH will move forward once the Hyderabad-based franchise decides whether to release the batting all-rounder from the team. A source close to the development informed the media house that CSK is open to a swap deal to bring Livingstone on board. They are likely to offer the Indian pacer Khaleel Ahmed in return to SRH.
"The franchises are certainly discussing Livingstone and another player apart from Khaleel in CSK. Multiple players and multiple franchises are involved in the trade discussions, not just two, and nothing has been finalized. It may or may not go through," the source claimed.
Liam Livingstone was not impressive in the European T20 Premier League as well
The star all-rounder recently featured in the European T20 Premier League for the Glasgow Cosmic. In his last ten matches for Cosmic, Livingstone got only one half-century and missed another half-century by six runs.
As the batting all-rounder has not been at his best for a long time, it is bizarre to learn that the five-time IPL champions, Chennai Super Kings, are interested in him. Why they are willing to sign him for the next season is yet to be disclosed.
Ahead of the IPL 2026 season, SRH bought the English all-rounder for INR 13 crore. Previously, the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) invested INR 8.75 crore in the previous mega auction. For RCB, Livingstone scored 112 runs in 8 innings, including one half-century, and took a couple of wickets in five matches for an economy rate of 8.44.
As the batting and bowling numbers were not justifying his price tag, RCB released him soon after the conclusion of the season. But with Liam Livingstone in the team, RCB claimed their maiden title since the inauguration of the Indian Premier League.
