Virat Kohli autographs net bowler’s jersey amid practice session for NZ vs IND 2026 ODIs [Watch]

Indian cricket legend Virat Kohli once again won over supporters by giving an autograph on a young net bowler’s jersey after an intense training session ahead of the upcoming one-day international series against New Zealand.

In a video widely circulating on social media, Kohli is seen taking time out after his rigorous batting drills at the nets to interact with a local bowler.

The veteran batter engaged in a brief conversation, signed the youngster’s jersey with a smile, and offered words of encouragement to the youngster.

The gesture highlights a recurring theme in Kohli’s storied career: his grounded demeanor toward grassroots cricketers and everyday fans. Despite commanding a massive global following and enduring heavy security protocols, the former national team captain consistently finds moments during tours and training stints to acknowledge those working behind the scenes.

For young net bowlers, who often send down dozens of deliveries in grueling heat without the public spotlight, such recognition from one of modern cricket’s greatest players serves as life-changing inspiration.

Kohli returned to the nets to fine-tune his preparations for India’s five-match ODI tour against the Black Caps, scheduled to begin in early November. The series marks another crucial chapter in India’s build-up toward the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.

A glimpse at Virat Kohli's ODI record against New Zealand

Virat Kohli boasts an exceptional track record against New Zealand in one-day internationals, consistently dominating the Black Caps attack across conditions.

In 36 ODIs, Kohli has racked up nearly 1,900 runs at an average approaching 58, underpinned by an all-time record seven centuries and 10 fifties against the opponent.

His marquee highlights include an unbeaten 154 during a successful run-chase at Mohali in 2016 and an iconic 117 in the 2023 World Cup semifinal at Mumbai, where he eclipsed Sachin Tendulkar with a historic 50th ODI hundred.

Kohli remains India's premier batting linchpin against the Kiwis as the Men in Blue look to win their first ODI series in New Zealand since 2018‑19.
