Yashasvi Jaiswal launches a massive slog sweep for a 6 to bring up ton in NZ 'A' vs IND 'A' 2026 2nd match [Watch]

Star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal ended his poor run of form with a much-needed hundred in the second innings of the second unofficial Test between India 'A' and New Zealand 'A'. He scored an unbeaten 155 off 162 deliveries as the contest ended in a draw at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

After New Zealand 'A' took a first-innings lead, scoring 424 in reply to India's 346, Yashasvi Jaiswal opened in the second innings with Sai Sudharsan. The latter was dismissed for 11, while the No.3 batter Devdutt Padikkal was dismissed for a golden duck.

India 'A' were placed at 32-0 at the start of Day 4 as rain delayed the start. But two quick wickets meant that the onus was on the pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and Yash Rathod.

Yashasvi Jaiswal's counter-attack slowly pushed India into the lead as he brought up his fifty off 68 deliveries. The southpaw took on off-spinner Dean Foxcroft for two sixes after reaching the landmark, and hit the same bowler for another six on 99 to bring up his 18th first-class hundred.

Bowling over the wicket, the spinner bowled onto the pads of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who struck a perfect slog sweep, well over the mid-wicket fence to bring up the milestone. Have a look at the moment right here:

Yashasvi Jaiswal brought up his hundred off just 119 deliveries, and dealt in boundaries towards the end of the day. He brought up his 150 with a boundary as well, dispatching Matthew Boyle's full toss for a four, before ending unbeaten on 155 off 162 deliveries.

Yashasvi Jaiswal had a tough tour of New Zealand before the century

The star opener had a mediocre tour of Sri Lanka and began his Ranji Trophy 2026-27 campaign with a duck against Chandigarh in Mumbai, and the poor scores continued in New Zealand as well.

In the first match for India 'A' in the away series, he scored 17 and 5 in the first and second innings, respectively. In the second match, before his ton in the second innings, he was dismissed for a duck on Day 1.

India's Test series against New Zealand is scheduled to begin on November 19 at the Basin Reserve in Wellington.
