Star India opener Abhishek Sharma tore apart the New Zealand bowling attack in the third T20I in Wellington. He smashed a brilliant hundred and helped the Men in Blue make it a one-sided affair.

Abhishek Sharma made his intent clear from the word go and took the attack to the Kiwi bowlers. He dealt in boundaries, smashing them all over the park. The left-hander raced to his century off just 35 balls. On the third ball of the tenth over, he picked up a boundary at short fine to reach three figures. He took his helmet off, dropped his bat down, and brought out his iconic celebration, sitting on the ground in a meditation pose.

Abhishek Sharma slams third-fastest T20I hundred

Abhishek Sharma's 35-ball hundred was the third-fastest in T20I history. David Miller and Rohit Sharma also have 35-ball hundreds, which they both scored in 2017. New Zealand's Finn Allen scored a 33-ball hundred in 2026, while Sikandar Raza also slammed a 33-ball hundred in 2024.

Interestingly, Abhishek himself holds the record for the fastest T20I hundred, scoring it off just 30 balls against Afghanistan in 2026. Earlier, he had reached his half-century off just 15 balls.

His hundred set the tone for an easy win for India, which also helped them seal the series. Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi, who opened the batting, took the game away from New Zealand. The duo added 133 runs for the first wicket in just 7.1 overs. In the powerplay alone, India reached 118 runs for no loss. For his unreal heroics, Abhishek was named 'Player of the Match'.
