Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan pulled off an extraordinary piece of fielding in the Ranji Trophy, sprinting across from slip to take a spectacular diving catch to trigger a decisive breakthrough against Railways.
The dismissal unfolded as Railways centurion Eshaan Goyal attempted a sweep against spinner Musheer Khan, brother of Sarfaraz. Goyal struck a miscued top edge that looped awkwardly behind square on the leg side. Stationed initially at first slip on the off side, Sarfaraz anticipated the trajectory immediately off the willow.
Rather than yielding to leg slip, Sarfaraz bolted across the pitch behind the wicketkeeper. Covering extensive ground in mere seconds, he tracked the dipping ball and launched into a full-stretch horizontal dive. He extended his arms to scoop his fingers underneath the leather, fractions of an inch off the grass, snapping a stubborn 167-run sixth-wicket partnership.
