Former opener Aakash Chopra reckons that India can cross the 300-mark in any T20I game if the likes of Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi go berserk. Chopra added that India's top order batters are capable of scoring at a strike rate of 200 throughout their innings.

India will take on New Zealand at the Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30 in the fourth T20I of the five-match series. The Men in Blue have already taken an unassailable 3-0 lead in the series.

During a discussion on Cricinfo, Chopra stated that India can score 300-plus in a T20I innings if they bat first. He commented:

"See, it is a possibility. It is a possibility in every game that India plays, provided they get to bat first. If you're looking at 300, you need to bat first. So, if Abhishek gets going and Vaibhav also bats the same way, or even Sanju, the fact is that all of them are capable of scoring at 200 strike rates throughout their innings. So, 120 balls can actually produce 300 runs, there is a possibility. But, whenever we tend to expect it, anticipate it, it doesn't happen. So it's not happening at all."

India's highest score in T20Is is 297-6, which came against Bangladesh in Hyderabad in October 2024. Sanju Samson scored 111 off 47 in this match, while Suryakumar Yadav hit 75 off 35 deliveries.

"Bowlers will be signing a mercy petition" - Chopra on venue for 4th NZ vs IND 2026 T20I

Batters have dominated proceedings in the ongoing India-New Zealand T20I series. Another high-scoring contest is expected in Auckland, where the boundaries are relatively small. Speaking about the challenge for bowlers, Chopra said (via the aforementioned source):

"The straight boundaries are really short - we're looking at 45-50 meters. It's a very odd dimensional ground. Doesn't look like a cricket ground when you're there because straight boundaries are really, really short and then you've got those deep pockets in the long leg area or the deep mid-wicket area. It's a very strange kind of rectangular ground. So, bowlers will be signing a mercy petition if there is no help."

After the clash in Auckland on Friday, India and New Zealand will meet in the final T20I of the series at Seddon Park in Hamilton on November 1.
