"Indian bowlers have been just as brilliant" - Former RCB cricketer's massive claim on Team India's series win after NZ vs IND 2026 3rd T20I
Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper Manvinder Bisla claims India’s bowlers deserve as much credit as the batters for the team’s T20I series win in New Zealand.
Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper Manvinder Bisla claims India’s bowlers deserve as much credit as the batters for the team’s T20I series win in New Zealand. He believes that going at 10 runs an over is no failure in the modern T20 game.
In India's series-sealing third T20I, Arshdeep Singh took 1/33, Axar Patel 1/36 and Nitish Kumar Reddy 1/38, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar (0/40) and Prince Yadav (0/44) went wicketless as New Zealand scored at 9.90 an over to finish on 198/3 in 20 overs.
On his Instagram handle, Bisla praised the Indian bowlers for the series win, saying:
"All we do is praise the batters scoring a century. But we never talk about any bowler who doesn’t take a five-wicket haul. However, we should look beyond that and start talking more about them. It's important to understand the new normal. In this series, the Indian bowlers have been just as brilliant, in my opinion."
Across the three matches, India have conceded 603 runs in 60 overs, an economy rate of 10.05. New Zealand made 225 for 4 and 180 for 5 in Christchurch and 198 for 3 in Wellington, and India chased down every total.
He argued those totals reflect how the format has moved rather than a weakness in the attack.
"These days, scores of 210 and 220 have become a regular in a T20 game. India have won all three matches in this series. But the bowlers need to get just as much credit as the batters are getting for restricting New Zealand," added Bisla.
With India already up by an unassailable 3-0 margin, the fourth T20I is at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.
"Abhishek Sharma finished the match himself" - Manvinder Bisla
Manvinder Bisla praised Abhishek Sharma and his opening partner, Vaibhav Suryavanshi, as India went 3-0 up by beating New Zealand by six wickets in the third T20I in Wellington. Sent in to bat, the hosts made 198 for 3, with Daryl Mitchell unbeaten on 89 off 52 balls and Bevon Jacobs 39 not out off 23.
India chased it in 13.2 overs, finishing on 199 for 4 with 40 balls to spare. Abhishek Sharma made 113 off 38 balls with 11 sixes, reaching his hundred off 35 deliveries, and Vaibhav Suryavanshi made 45 off 19 in an opening stand of 133.
"Abhishek Sharma finished the match himself and he, along with Suryavanshi, finished it in the powerplay itself," said Bisla (via the aforementioned source).
Abhishek and Suryavanshi ensured India reached 100 in five overs, making the rest of the chase a mere formality.
