India A's first innings lasted less than two sessions as New Zealand A's fast bowlers exploited the helpful conditions to dismiss the visitors for just 113.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl, New Zealand A made full use of the grass on the pitch. Fraser Sheat provided the early breakthrough by removing KL Rahul, but Yashasvi Jaiswal and Devdutt Padikkal offered some resistance with a partnership before Zak Gibson ended Jaiswal's stay.
Simon Keene then caused further damage with a superb spell of bowling. He extracted movement from the surface and claimed five wickets, leaving India A's batting line-up struggling to build any momentum.
With wickets falling at regular intervals, Yash Rathod took the fight to the New Zealand A bowlers. He attacked whenever an opportunity came his way and kept the scoreboard moving even as partners departed at the other end.
Rathod also put together a valuable last-wicket partnership with Mukesh Choudhary, doing most of the scoring to take India A beyond the 100-run mark. However, the late resistance could not prevent the visitors from being dismissed for a modest total of 113.
