"He has totally revolutionized this format" - Social media erupts as Abhishek Sharma slams 113 off 38 balls in NZ vs IND 2026 3rd T20I

Team India opener Abhishek Sharma demolished the New Zealand bowling attack with a blazing 35-ball century in the third T20I of the ongoing five-match series on Tuesday. The Men in Blue were chasing a 199-run target after electing to field first in Wellington.

Abhishek made light work of the Black Caps bowlers with his counter-attack. The southpaw completed his half-century in just 15 balls. The hosts seemed to have no answer to the 26-year-old's big hitting as he smashed a 35-ball ton.

The swashbuckling batter ultimately finished with 113 off 38 balls at a jaw-dropping strike rate of 297.37. His innings was laced with 11 sixes and nine fours. Abhishek earned massive praise on social media for his blistering batting exploits.

Here are some of the top reactions on X:

Abhishek's entertaining knock came to an end in the 10th over after he was caught by Glenn Phillips at deep mid-wicket off Kyle Jamieson. He turned the game into a one-sided affair, with India chasing down the target in 13.2 overs to win by six wickets.

Abhishek Sharma and Vaibhav Suryavanshi power India to a record-breaking powerplay score

Abhishek Sharma walked out to bat with Vaibhav Suryavanshi as his opening partner instead of Sanju Samson. The pair dominated proceedings in the powerplay, taking India to 118/0 in six overs.

Their carnage led to India recording the fastest team hundred and the highest powerplay score in T20Is among Full Member nations. Suryavanshi missed out on a well-deserved half-century, departing for 45 off 19 balls.

The youngster was caught at long-off after a mistimed lofted shot off Matthew Fisher. Meanwhile, India took an unassailable 3-0 lead with their resounding victory. The fourth T20I will be played at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30. The series will conclude with the fifth T20I at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Sunday.
