"We couldn't quite hit our straps with the ball" - Harry Brook after England's loss vs Sri Lanka in 3rd ODI of Tri-Series 2026

Speaking at the post-match presentation, English skipper Harry Brook reflected on the loss, saying (as quoted by Cricbuzz):

"Incredible game of cricket. I thought both teams were exceptional. Sri Lanka just outplayed us, unfortunately. We couldn't quite hit our straps with the ball and played into their strengths a little bit, and again they played exceptional cricket to knock off 400. I think you said first time in 20 years is an incredible achievement, so fair play to them."

On scoring a double century, Brook continued:

"Unfortunately, it doesn't mean anything now, being on the losing side. We've got to go back to the drawing board a little bit. No, we know where we've gone wrong. Unfortunately, we didn't execute well enough with the ball. We've got a great opportunity in the next couple of games to try and nail down a spot in the final. And yeah, we've got to go back to keeping things simple and backing ourselves and pick our chins up and go again next game."

England will face Pakistan in the next match of the Tri-Series on Sunday, October 25, at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
