The Indianapolis Colts have parted ways with one of their most important players.
On Tuesday, the AFC South franchise was reported to have traded defensive tackle DeForest Buckner to the San Francisco 49ers in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick.
Reactions to the transaction were abundant, with former offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz leading the way:

"Colts are doing the right thing. Selling everyone they can and planning on a rebuild."
And soon, fans had their own opinions on the matter:
"Carlie Irsay-Gordon has the right mentality; we gotta start from scratch," one concurred.
"Colts have a fire sale going on," one proclaimed.
"Carlie Irsay-Gordon is blowing it up!" another gasped.
"Could the Lions snag anyone???" one wondered.
"I guess Carlie Irsay-Gordon learned enough skulking around the sidelines and taking notes to figure out that the team sucks and needs a complete tear-down and rebuild," another assumed.
This will actually be Buckner's second stint in Santa Clara. The 49ers selected the Oregon alum seventh overall in 2016, and he developed into an All-Pro and Pro Bowler and played a major role in their run to Super Bowl LIV in 2019.
In 2020, he was traded to the Colts, whom he immediately helped to make the playoffs for the first time since Andrew Luck's shocking retirement. He was also named an All-Pro for the second time and would make two Pro Bowls over the next five and a half seasons.
Colts have also traded guard Quenton Nelson to Seahawks
DeForest Buckner is not the only erstwhile Colt to go to the NFC West, however.
Earlier that day, Quenton Nelson was announced to have been traded to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for two draft picks - a 2027 third-rounder and a 2028 fifth-rounder.
In Indianapolis, the guard, who was the sixth overall pick of the 2018 draft out of Notre Dame, was a three-time All-Pro and made eight consecutive Pro Bowls. He was also a crucial component in Jonathan Taylor's dominance, helping the running back set multiple franchise records, including the most rushing touchdowns both in a single season and throughout a career.
Both Nelson and Buckner are entering the final year of their contracts, which they signed in 2022 and 2024, respectively.
