"He's the most expensive friend I've ever met" - Former RCB captain's huge claim on Virat Kohli after IPL 2026

Former Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Faf du Plessis called Virat Kohli his most expensive friend, thanks to the latter's extensive watch collection. Faf and Kohli played together for RCB from 2022 to 2024, with the former leading the side.

Faf and Kohli formed an incredible batting partnership, scoring over 2,000 runs at an average of 49.56, including six century stands and nine half-century stands.

Talking about Kohli's love for watches on the Prakhar Gupta YouTube channel, Faf said (17:20):

"We both enjoy fashion. He's a massive watch guy. I've said to him that he's the most expensive friend I've ever met. He made my wallet a lot thinner in terms of the watches he showed me in his collection. But even off the field, be it at the gym or in what he ate, he was always at 100%."

Kohli is the IPL's all-time leading run-scorer, with 9,336 runs at an average of 40.41 and a strike rate of nearly 135 in 235 outings. The veteran batter helped RCB win back-to-back IPL titles in 2025 and 2026, leading them in run-scoring in both editions.

"He's actually quite playful off the field" - Faf du Plessis on Virat Kohli

Faf du Plessis called Virat Kohli a playful character off the field, claiming that having a family has helped the legendary batter soften up. Kohli is renowned for his fiery character and high intensity on the field.

"He's actually quite playful off the field. The time I was with him in RCB was later in his career, with family and kids. Especially when you have kids, and a girl, it makes you soft jelly. So when our paths crossed in RCB, there was a softer edge to him, even though his personality didn't change," said Faf (via the aforementioned source).

Faf concluded by praising Kohli's intensity on the field, saying:

"His intensity really picked up the guys around him in the Indian team. That's something I definitely saw with Indian cricket. The level of intensity went up with him being the captain. There was a hardness around them, and you couldn't bully them because of the way he played the game."

Kohli will be back in action when India take on New Zealand in a five-match ODI series, starting November 4.
