Team India opener Abhishek Sharma played a mind-boggling innings in the third T20I against New Zealand in Wellington. The Men in Blue won by six wickets and sealed the series 3-0 with two games to spare.

In the first two T20Is, Abhishek got starts but failed to convert them into big scores. He was dismissed for 29 off 12 and 27 off 21. However, he finally managed to get a huge score and played a sensational knock, which won him the 'Player of the Match' award as well.
On that note, here are five huge records by the Team India opener during his 113 off 38 balls in the third T20I.
#1 10 or more sixes in a T20I innings most times
Abhishek Sharma's knock consisted of 11 sixes. This was the third time the Indian opener hit ten or more sixes in a T20I innings. He has now achieved this feat the second-most times, only behind Karanbir Singh (Austria), who has done it five times.
Abhishek went past Chris Gayle, Aaron Finch, and Kendel Kadowaki Fleming, who have all achieved this feat twice each.
#2 Third most hundreds in T20s
Abhishek Sharma's ton in the third T20I was his 11th hundred overall in the shorter format. He has four T20I hundreds and seven T20 hundreds. He became the batter with the third-most hundreds in T20s, only behind Babar Azam (13) and Chris Gayle (22).
Previously, Abhishek was tied at the fourth spot with Quinton de Kock, Virat Kohli, and David Warner, who all have ten T20 hundreds to their name. He went past them to take the third spot.
#3 Joint second-most hundreds in T20Is
This was Abhishek Sharma's fourth T20I hundred. He now has the joint-second-most centuries in T20Is, joining Karanbir Singh, Phil Salt, and Suryakumar Yadav on the list, who also have four T20I hundreds each.
Abhishek is only behind Rohit Sharma and Glenn Maxwell, who jointly hold the record for the most hundreds in T20Is with five each. Therefore, among Indian players alone, he has the joint second-most T20I hundreds along with Suryakumar Yadav.
#4 Third-fastest hundred in T20Is (FM)
Abhishek Sharma took no time to get going and never stepped off the accelerator. His intent was clear from the word go, as he went on to reach his hundred off just 35 balls. It is the joint third-fastest hundred in T20Is. Rohit Sharma and David Miller both scored 35-ball centuries each in 2017.
Finn Allen and Sikandar Raza are second on the list with 33-ball hundreds each, which they scored in 2026 and 2024, respectively. Interestingly, Abhishek Sharma himself holds the record for the fastest T20I hundred (among full-member nations), having scored a 30-ball ton against Afghanistan in 2026.
#5 Joint third-fastest fifty in T20Is (FM)
Abhishek Sharma reached his half-century off just 15 balls. He became the batter with the joint-third-fastest fifty in T20Is. Shivam Dube (2026) and Quinton de Kock (2023) have also scored 15-ball fifties.
Abhishek is himself second on this list, having scored a 14-ball fifty this very year against New Zealand in Guwahati. Colin Munro also has a fifty off 14 balls, which he scored in 2016. Yuvraj Singh holds this record, with a 12-ball fifty, which he scored during the 2007 T20 World Cup.
