Star India batter Ishan Kishan made a brilliant comeback with a stunning fifty in the fifth T20I against New Zealand. The game is being played at Seddon Park in Hamilton on Sunday, November 1.

On the fifth ball of the ninth over, Ishan Kishan smashed Mitchell Santner for a massive six to bring up his fifty in style. It was a length ball outside off. The left-hander got forward and lofted it over wide long-on and into the fence.

He brought up his half-century off just 28 balls. His knock included four fours and as many sixes at a strike rate of 182.14. He raised his bat to celebrate the milestone.

Kishan picked up a minor groin injury in the first T20I and had to sit out for the next two games. However, he returned for the fourth game. His return was not an ideal one as he was dismissed for a three-ball duck. That said, he would be relieved to have scored a half-century in the ongoing clash, carrying his solid form this year.

Ishan Kishan joins elite Indian club in T20Is

Ishan Kishan completed 2000 T20I runs during the course of his knock in the ongoing game. He reached the milestone in 1345 balls, becoming the third-fastest Indian batter to reach 2000 T20I runs in terms of balls faced.

Abhishek Sharma has taken the fewest balls to reach the milestone, doing so in 1024 deliveries. Former skipper Suryakumar Yadav is second on the list, reaching the milestone in 1164 balls.

Eventually, Ishan Kishan was dismissed for 61 runs off 32 balls. His quickfire knock included five boundaries and five sixes at a strike rate of 190.62. His knock helped the Men in Blue get off to a fine start in the first ten overs despite losing openers Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson early in the powerplay.

Kishan ended the series with 62 runs from three matches at an average of 20.66 at a strike rate of 163.15. While he did not have a great series as he missed out due to injury, his half-century in the final T20I comes as a huge positive for the Men in Blue.
