“I heard that New Zealand are going to file a complaint” - Former India opener’s hilarious take after NZ vs IND 2026 3rd T20I
Former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth trolled New Zealand’s bowlers after their hammering in the third T20I, joking that the hosts are drafting a formal complaint about having to bowl to India.
Former Indian captain Kris Srikkanth trolled New Zealand’s bowlers after their hammering in the third T20I, joking that the hosts are drafting a formal complaint about having to bowl to India. India chased down 199 in 13.2 overs in Wellington on Tuesday, October 27, winning by six wickets with 40 balls to spare.
Abhishek Sharma finished on 113 from 38 balls, with nine fours and 11 sixes, reaching his fourth T20I century in 35 deliveries. Vaibhav Suryavanshi, restored to the top of the order after batting at number three in the second T20I, made 45 from 19. The pair put on 133 in 7.1 overs, and India’s 118/0 in the powerplay is a record for men’s T20Is.
Talking about India's commanding win over the Kiwis in the third T20I, Srikkanth said on his YouTube channel, Cheeky Cheeka:
"I heard that New Zealand are going to file a complaint that they can't play against India if they bat like this in their home conditions. They've said they won't play the next match if the Indian batters smash them like this (Sarcasm). There is such depth in the batting that they can demolish any attack. The opposition is rendered clueless if they get caught on a good day for the Indian top three. The Blackcaps should wear some other cap, as when India see the Blackcaps, they go berserk."
The win gave India an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series, with two games left.
"They would have scored way over 300" - Kris Srikkanth hails India's T20I batting lineup
Srikkanth, who opened for India in the 1983 World Cup final win, argued the lineup carries more firepower than any other side. He added that the depth of the batting leaves opposing attacks short of answers.
"If India batted first and batted 20 overs, they would have scored way over 300 with these two (Abhishek and Suryavanshi). If bowlers get caught in a partnership between these two, they are finished. Only India has such firepower. I thought the series would be 4-1 to India. But now I can't see New Zealand winning even one with this Indian batting lineup," said Srikkanth (via the aforementioned source).
Jacob Duffy’s opening over cost 26, and India were 64 without loss after three overs. India’s chase was the fastest of a 190-plus target by a Full Member nation.
The fourth T20I is at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday, October 30.
