Harsh Dubey and Parth Rekhade snared five wickets each as Vidarbha secured an innings and 20 runs win over Madhya Pradesh in their Ranji Trophy Group A match in Nagpur on Wednesday. India spinner Dubey, who had claimed 9/45 in the first innings, returned with a match haul of 14 wickets as MP were bowled out for 105 in their second innings. The left-arm spinner claimed 5/37 in MP's second innings. Rekhade returned 5/14 from only seven overs as Vidarbha completed a dominant victory inside three days to win with bonus point.

The victory also took two-time Ranji winners Vidarbha to the top of the Group A points table with a total of 26 points in four matches of the first round.

Hosts Goa also walked away with a bonus-point victory as they crushed Bihar by an innings and 177 runs inside three days.

After posting a huge 397 in the first innings and bowling Bihar out for 107/9, Lalit Yadav-led Goa's bowling attack skittled out the visitors for a mere 113.

Uttar Pradesh piled on 455 for eight in reply to Baroda's 355 to lead by 100 runs as the contest is set to end in a draw, with the hosts getting points on first-innings lead.

Similarly, Jammu and Kashmir were set to walk away with three points on first-innings lead after they reached 491 for five in reply to Puducherry's 385 with a day's play left.

Mohit Ahlawat's maiden ton gives Services advantage

Mohit Ahlawat struck a commanding 142 to put Services in a strong position against Delhi on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match at Palam A Ground in New Delhi on Wednesday.

After conceding a first-innings lead of 78 runs, Services recovered from early blows to reach 280 for five in their second innings at stumps, extending their overall lead to 202.

Skipper Rajat Paliwal was unbeaten on 62 off 96 balls, while Ahlawat's 150-ball knock was studded with 12 fours and seven sixes.

Services were in trouble at 13 for two after losing openers Nitin Tanwar (2) and Shubham Rohilla (5) inside five overs.

But Ahlawat, who struck his maiden first-class century, and Ravi Chauhan steadied the innings with a 126-run partnership for the third wicket.

Chauhan made a patient 56 off 105 balls, hitting six fours and a six, while Ahlawat counter-attacked to wrest the initiative from Delhi.

After Chauhan departed at 139, Ahlawat joined Paliwal to put together another crucial stand of 127 runs for the fourth wicket.

Paliwal provided stability with his measured knock before Ahlawat was dismissed at 266, leaving Services well placed to set Delhi a challenging target.

Earlier, Delhi, resuming at 299 for six, were bowled out for 344 in 105.4 overs, adding 45 runs while losing their remaining four wickets.

Sumit Mathur, who was unbeaten on 80 overnight, fell agonisingly short of a century, departing for 99 after facing 196 balls.

Rookie medium-pacer Jayant Goyat wrapped up the innings, taking five for 65, his maiden five-wicket haul in first-class cricket. Left-arm spinner Arjun Sharma supported him well with three for 65.

In Ahmedabad, Gujarat enforced the follow-on after bowling out Kerala for 279 in their first innings and reduced them to 41 for one in their second innings at stumps on the third day.

Kerala, who conceded a massive 255-run first-innings lead after Gujarat declared at 534 for nine, still trail by 214 runs with nine wickets in hand.

Abhishek Nair was unbeaten on 29, while Sachin Baby was yet to score at close of play. Rohan Kunnummal was dismissed for seven by Arzan Nagwaswalla.

Earlier, Kerala resumed their first innings at 74/3 and were bowled out for 279 in 88.2 overs. Skipper Vishnu Vinod (66), Mohammed Azharuddeen (57) and Aditya Sarwate (58) made half-centuries.

Arzan Nagwaswalla led Gujarat's attack with four for 59, while captain Chintan Gaja claimed three for 65.

Wicketkeeper-batter Robin Minz struck his maiden first-class century, remaining unbeaten on 100 as Jharkhand declared their first innings at 433 for eight before reducing Odisha to 23 without loss at stumps on the third day.

Minz's 140-ball knock, studded with 11 fours and two sixes, came after centuries from Aditya Singh (104) and a valuable 89 from Anukul Roy had put Jharkhand in a commanding position.

Shubh Sharma also made a quick 58 off 61 balls as Jharkhand crossed the 400-run mark.

Maharashtra''s Sanghvi, Dadhe turn the tables on Bengal

Kolkata, Nov 4 Tanay Sanghvi and Pradeep Dadhe hurt Bengal twice, first with a crucial 60-run last-wicket stand and then with the ball, leaving the hosts struggling at 76 for four with a slender one-run lead on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group C match against Maharashtra here on Wednesday.

Bengal, who had won their first three matches of the season, were in danger of losing their unbeaten run after another sloppy batting display against the Prithvi Shaw-led side.

The day was curtailed by rain as only 27.5 overs of play was possible.

Bengal's hopes of pushing for a fourth successive win suffered a blow as their top-order crumbled in the second innings.

Skipper Abhimanyu Easwaran fell for nine to Dadhe before Sanghvi struck twice in three balls, removing Sudip Kumar Gharami (12) and Sudip Chatterjee (0) to leave Bengal reeling at 25 for three inside 10 overs.

Ankur Paul (32) and wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel (23 batting) then added 49 runs for the fourth wicket to steady the innings.

But Hitesh Walunj dismissed Paul late in the day to leave Bengal with plenty of work to do on the final day.

Porel and Suraj Jaiswal (0 not out) were at the crease when bad light brought an early close.

Earlier, Maharashtra added 11 runs in 3.5 overs to their overnight total before being bowled out for 218, securing a 75-run first-innings lead.

Veteran India pacer Mohammed Shami completed his four-wicket haul by dismissing Dadhe for 27.

Shami finished with four for 37, while spinner Shahbaz Ahmed took three for 39.

Bengal looked set to restrict the visitors to a much smaller total after reducing them to 102/7 on day two.

But Sanghvi remained unbeaten on 60 off 179 balls, and his association with Dadhe proved crucial.

The stand took Maharashtra from 158 for nine to 218, giving the visitors a valuable advantage after Bengal were bowled out for 143 in their first innings.

With Maharashtra needing just six more wickets for an outright victory, Bengal face a testing final day as they look to keep their unbeaten record intact.

Kotian''s 7/45, fifties from Raghuvanshi, Saxena put Mumbai in command against Railways

Tanush Kotian's seven-wicket haul was followed by half-centuries from Angkrish Raghuvanshi and Divyaansh Saxena as Mumbai extended lead to an overall 311 runs against Railways on Day Three of Elite Group D Ranji Trophy clash in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Kotian (7/45) claimed his second consecutive five-wicket haul, following his 8/81 against Haryana last week, to help Mumbai dismiss Railways for 259 and secure a first-innings lead of 137 runs.

Mumbai openers Raghuvanshi and Saxena then put on 146 runs for a strong start, but the visitors slipped to 174 for four at the end of play in their bid to score aggressively.

Mumbai lost the wickets of Raghuvanshi (79 off 85 balls; 10 fours, 1 six), Suryansh Shedge (2), Musheer Khan (9), and Tushar Deshpande (0) in a heap.

Saxena was batting on 68 (114 balls; 6 fours) with Sarfaraz Khan (3) at the end of the day's play.

It was Kotian's bowling that swung the game in Mumbai's favour on the third morning, after the Brabourne Stadium pitch had largely remained neutral over the first two days.

"On this wicket, it was not gripping that much (compared to the BKC Ground last week). Also the straighter one was effective on this wicket, so being accurate and bowling those pressure balls was crucial," Kotian told reporters after stumps.

Kotian said Mumbai will look to set a target in excess of 350.

"It would be great if we add 40-50 more runs. Divyaansh and Angkrish batted really well so that gave us the confidence to go after their bowlers but we lost 2-3 quick wickets. We wanted to get those runs quickly and get them batting on this wicket sooner," he said.

Earlier in the day, despite being introduced very late into the attack on third day, Kotian was the most impactful as he helped Mumbai take a huge lead of 137 runs, even as batting second meant the 42-time champions were denied the opportunity of scoring a fourth consecutive bonus-point victory.

Right-arm spinner Kotian returned 18.5-8-45-7 while adding six wickets to his tally on the third day morning to put the game completely in command of Mumbai.

Resuming at a stable 116 for two, Ravi Singh (43) was the only batter to trouble Mumbai with a strokeful knock which included four boundaries and two sixes, as Kotian-led attack knocked over the remaining eight wickets for another 143 runs.

Kotian said he is looking to perform on every opportunity while leaving the rest to the Indian senior men's selectors.

"I think I am close, but let's see. It's their call at the end. I have to do my things and I have to do them correctly," he said.

Tamil Nadu, meanwhile, were three wickets away from a bonus-point victory against Chhattisgarh, who were tottering at 189 for seven following on.

Uttarakhand completed a dominant victory by 10 wickets to win with a bonus point against Haryana inside three days.

After bundling Haryana out for 153, Uttarakhand had taken a lead of 152 runs when they posted 305 in their only innings. Trailing by a massive margin, Haryana rolled over for 159 in the second innings, shortly after taking a slender lead of eight runs.

Rajasthan, who were shot out for 78 on Day One, needed six more wickets to win as Himachal Pradesh slipped to 83/4 chasing 447.

Rajasthan had declared their second innings on 521 for eight.

Manvanth, Shreyas sparkle as Karnataka thump Assam by innings and 314 runs

Guwahati, Nov 4 Spinners Shreyas Gopal and Shikhar Shetty ran through Assam's batting order after Manvanth Kumar's breezy unbeaten hundred as Karnataka registered a thumping innings and 314-run win on the third day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group B match here on Wednesday.

Karnataka, who bagged seven points from this match including a bonus point, have moved to the top of the group table with 16 points.

Resuming at overnight 496 for five, Karnataka declared their first innings at 577 for six for a lead of 442 runs.

Leg-spinner Shreyas (4/39) and left-arm spinner Shetty (3/28) then ripped open Assam batting to bundle them out for 128 in 40.2 overs to fashion the eight-time champions' victory with well over a day to spare.

Manvanth, who began the day on 53, reached his 100 in just 108 balls with eight fours and five sixes. He reached the milestone with a single off Amlanjyoti Das.

It was the 22-year-old's second hundred of the season.

Growing into an assured presence in the state's lower-order batting, Manvanth had registered his maiden First-Class hundred against Saurashtra at Alur in Bengaluru a fortnight ago.

In Assam's second innings, skipper Denish Das made a 50 off 74 balls but that was not enough to keep Karnataka at bay.

Minnows Tripura had Saurashtra pinned on the mat at 131 for seven. The two-time champions still need 211 runs on the final day to win the match at Agartala.

Chasing an imposing 342, Saurashtra lost wickets at regular intervals and off-spinner Sandip Sarkar did bulk of damage, taking four wickets.
