"English media can say Harry Brook is the best" - S Badrinath picks India star as best T20 batter over England captain

Former batter S Badrinath picked Indian star Abhishek Sharma as the best T20 batter. Abhishek is currently with the Men in Blue in their ongoing T20I series against New Zealand.

He was in awe of the Indian opener and called him a devastating hitter. Badrinath also reckoned the left-hander created a sense of fear within bowlers. While the English media claim Harry Brook is the best, the former batter disagreed and regarded Abhishek Sharma as the current best batter in the shortest format.

"I think Abhishek is one of the most devastating hitters. It is enough to instill fear within the bowlers in the powerplay even though he has a baby face. His batting is on the next level. The English media can say Harry Brook is the best right now. But there is no chance. It is Abhishek and he has got the numbers," he said in a video on his YouTube channel.

In T20s, Harry Brook has 4835 runs from 194 games at an average of 35.03 and a strike rate of 157.64, with five hundreds and 20 fifties. On the other hand, Abhishek has 6633 runs from 221 games at an average of 33.16 and a strike rate of 179.27, with 11 hundreds and 40 half-centuries.

Badrinath on India's top-order combination

In the same video, Badrinath also spoke about India's top-order combination. He was slightly surprised by Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhishek Sharma opening. However, he reckoned that the team must stick to one opening pair.

"Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Abhishek opened and that was a surprise for me. I am still confused. Yes, India made 118 in the powerplay. But who should open? Vaibhav or Sanju Samson? Samson at three I feel is not fair. I don't know where this is going. But if they decide something, they need to stick to it," he said.

Notably, Vaibhav batted at number three in the second T20I with Abhishek and Sanju Samson opening. In the third T20I, Abhishek and Vaibhav opened, while they went back to the Abhishek-Samson pair once Ishan Kishan returned to the playing XI in the fourth T20I.
